St Peter’s Harold Wood

   9:38 Apprenticeships

St Peter’s is offering two apprenticeships (for male or female) from September 1st 2009

for either one or two years.

Here at St Peter’s we are deeply committed to sending out workers in the service of the gospel, and since 2000

have seen the 9:38 scheme as a key way that we can encourage our own members and those from elsewhere

to explore their gifts, temperament and calling for ministry. The normal or expected time for an apprenticeship is

  immediately after graduation.

  WHO ARE WE?

  WHAT DO WE OFFER?

We want our Apprentices to learn Christ, and understand both the Scriptures and themselves in the setting of

exploring their own gifts and God’s calling for their future, whether in full-time paid Christian work or as a more

effective and focused disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ in whatever church and work. We seek to provide a clear

framework for ministry and training, while maintaining real flexibility for the individual.

  Ministry opportunities:

We aim to give Apprentices as much opportunity to observe, share in and learn gospel ministry among all the

age groups as we can and they want! There is inevitably a big involvement with the flourishing children’s and

young people’s work, but involvement with all other work is geared to the needs and inclinations of the

Apprentice. We will work with you to provide a weekly programme of ministry, study, staff time, supervision and

recreation to suit you which will be reviewed termly.

  Training

We have many training opportunities and resources to draw on in London and Cambridge: The Proclamation

Trust (including the Cornhill Training Course), Oak Hill Theological College and The South-East and East Anglia

Gospel Partnerships. We pay for our Apprentices to take one day out a week to join TEAM (The East Anglia

Ministry) and to attend the 9:38 conference in the new year, as well as providing supervision and training from

members of staff and the chance to do the Moore College Courses.

  Finance:

We do not ask Apprentices to raise any money towards their time with us. We will provide full board and lodging

with members of the church family and a monthly allowance currently set at £160 plus all working expenses.

  WHAT SHALL I DO NEXT?

Informally, you could contact one of the current or recent 9:38 Apprentices by email and find out first hand from

them what an apprenticeship at St Peter’s can offer and is really like!

Contact James Croucher on james_croucher@yahoo.com or Fiona Bennett on fee101@hotmail.com

To make an application, or arrange a visit, please contact the vicar, David Banting, with the names and contact

details of two referees (one from a term-time church, and one from a home church if possible). He will then be

able to send you further information.

We would encourage you to make the visit as soon as possible – Sundays would be best.
