THE BUILDING PROJECT
Gift weekend was a huge success and we think that everyone should know of our initial outcomes. The fourth and
final tour had more than 90 people and the wow factor is becoming obvious. The count-down is now only 63 days to go and we can't
wait to be back home for the first sunday back on November 29th. A lot of work still needs to be done though before we re-enter our buildings and
Kevin Gilderson is now acting as our Re-Entry Manager and is on the job almost everyday. With help from Chris Taylor
as Interim Administrator in the office, Kevin will co-ordinate our efforts.
The dinner on Saturday was another happy occasion. Nearly 150 people were able to gather together and share good fellowship and the
story of God's goodness and genourosity so far through the project. For a good many who had joined the fellowship
in the past two years, it was the first timethey's heard the story and were quietly amazed.
Gifts towards final target: £52,673
New Pledges: £1,500
Interest-free loans offered: £64,000 (in addition to the £100,000 already
On June 7th, St Peter's had been out of our buildings for a whole year. God has been good in
sustaining and providing for us, though there are signs of weariness as we continue to cope
with life in exile. Please be particularly careful in helping the busy, busy temporary office to function well,
by keeping interruptions to a minimum and upholding Lynn and Tanya in prayer.
On July 8th about 100 people went round the Church Buildings on a tour. Many people were 'wowed' by what they saw
and were impressed with the scale and flexibility of the new facilitiies.
The pot rises slowly to £2.15 million, on the way to what is now £2.65/2.7 million for the main project.
There is still the Ingrebourne Centre, but we hope that might be helped by grant applications as well.
Our first big target remains about £500,000 - £550,000. We pray on - we venture in faith - another Milestone or Gift Day in the
autumn, probably September.
We still trust to be back in the buildings by the end of November and pray to open debt-free.
Please pray for the roof to be closed and completed - it is a critical land-mark in any project and especially for us.
The redrafted Ingrebourne Centre Brief went to the PCC on July 6th for approval and
then went to the architect for initial designs and preliminary costing. If the PCC agree those at their November
meeting, then work on the Ingrebourne Centre could start in the summer of 2010.
On 15th May 2008 the PCC awarded the contract for our Building Project to Haynes & Smith
at a cost of £2.5 million. The work started in July 2008 and will take approximately 16 months
to complete.
God is good and has graciously guided and provided to date, and we look to Him in faith and
prayer as we go forward. To Him be the glory.
