Our aim is to show Christian love and hospitality both for their own sakes and in the prayerful hope that members will be drawn to know Jesus for themselves. Our age range is from about 70 upwards (our current oldest member is an active 96). About 15-20% of the members are from St. Peter’s Church.
We meet on every Wednesday of the school terms, more or less, from 12.30 – 3.00p.m.. Our activities fall in to two main sections:
A small but essential part of our programme is the ‘prologue’, five to seven minutes of basic Bible teaching led by either ‘visitors’ from St. Peter’s or the Good companions leadership. In this we aim to focus on essentials of the Christian faith and commend Jesus to our members.
In each of the summer and autumn terms we have a coach outing and on most half-terms we have a coffee morning or afternoon tea.
On alternate years we have a summer holiday club for members – G.C.S.E. (Good Companions Summer Event) when the halls become ‘The Belle View Hotel’. The event covers two days and a special Sunday morning service and lunch.
