The Leprosy Mission

The Leprosy Mission (TLM) is an international Christian organisation working with people affected by leprosy. Founded in 1874, The Leprosy Mission is the oldest and largest leprosy-focused organisation in the world today.
Around the world The Leprosy Mission has about 2,000 staff and implements or supports around 200 leprosy projects in 26 countries. The largest number of TLM’s projects is in India.
The Leprosy Mission’s work includes:
  • providing vocational and skills training 
  • providing housing support, water and sanitation 
  • providing small business loans and training to enable people affected by leprosy to escape poverty and become independent 
  • empowering people affected by leprosy and disabilities who are facing discrimination to lobby governments and employers for equal rights 
  • treating leprosy and providing general health care and health awareness training 
  • training national health staff to diagnose and treat leprosy and prevent disability 
  • providing surgery and physiotherapy
